Writing about how global warming is a long essay by its self, so to save the trouble, I'm just going to refer Al Gore's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.
In this entry, I'm only aiming to write suggestions, tips if you may, on what you can do to reduce your daily CO2 emissions.
1.a Reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible. In other words, commute.
1.b If driving can't be helped, and carpooling isn't an option, make sure to check your tires weekly and tune-up your car.
2. Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL). CFLS are brighter too.
3. Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer.
4. Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner.
5. Plant a tree, it'll be your legacy when you die.
6. Use less hot water. It's summertime, having a cold shower is orgasmic especially in the afternoon.
7. Turn off electronic devices you’re not using.
8. Unplug electronics from the wall when you’re not using them. Chargers, hairdryers, television all consume energy when plugged.
9. Buy recycled paper products. Papemelroti is a good place to buy cute (recycled paper) notebooks. Buy old books from half.ebay.com or betterworld.com.
10. Buy fresh, organic, locally grown produce.
11. Eat less meat. It will lower your cholesterol levels too.
12. If you live in the US, please please please, have your country ratify the Kyoto Protocol. Write a letter to the Congress. Vote for the president who sees global warming as an issue.
Please excuse me for the lack of JE in this post. :P
